For this cinematic, the intention was to evoke a mystical ambiance, capturing the enigmatic essence of a traveler embarking on a challenging journey through the vast desert, relentlessly pursuing an undefined destination.
To achieve the effect of wind blowing through the sand, I employed a panning noise technique that dynamically evolves over time. The noise contains darker areas that effectively convey the illusion of sand movement.
To achieve the desired effect, I employed a mask on the sand material, which activates a normal map specifically when the character's feet come into contact with the landscape.
